What is Burton Step On®?

Burton Step On® is an innovative boot-binding system that allows you to step directly into the binding without straps. Three connection points – two in the toe area, one at the heel – ensure a secure fit and precise power transfer. To get out, simply pull the heel lever to release the connection. The result: more comfort, less effort and a smooth transition from the lift to snowboarding – ideal for anyone who wants to spend more time on the mountain and less time sitting.

Important to know:

Step On® works as a closed system – boots and bindings must match. Only Step On® boots can be used with Step On® bindings. Conventional snowboard boots are not compatible. Burton offers a wide selection for men, women and kids, from soft freestyle setups to reactive all-mountain combinations.

Brand new: Burton Step On® Waverange and Highspot

The Step On® Waverange and Highshot are two new boots models from Burton that combine state-of-the-art technology with decades of experience. Both come with the BOA® Fit System for a precise fit and are available in three versions: Step On, X Step On, and X Pro Step On. The difference lies in the riding experience: Waverange offers a softer, surf-inspired flex for playful riding, while Highshot is designed for maximum control and performance with a stiffer construction and direct response. Two boots – two styles – one goal: the perfect riding experience for every snowboarder.

Is Step On® also available from other brands?

Burton pioneered the Step On® system – but the idea has long since inspired other brands. Some manufacturers, such as Nitro and DC, now produce Step On®-compatible boots that work perfectly with Burton Step On® bindings. Other Step On® bindings are also available from Union. Burton's Step On® technology is a real game changer, taking the snowboarding experience to a whole new level. The Step On® system allows you to get into your bindings super quickly – without any tedious strapping and adjusting. Instead, you simply click in with your Step On® boot and you're ready to ride in seconds.

The only important thing to note is that Step On® boots only work with Step On® bindings. Conventional boots or classic bindings are not compatible as they lack the connection points at the toes and heels.

At the heart of Burton Step On® bindings are three cleverly positioned connection points: two at the front in the toe area and one at the back near the heels. This innovative connection ensures direct power transfer, maximum control and an incomparable board feel – on the piste, in the park, in the backcountry. Getting out is just as easy: a lever on the side of the binding releases the boot in a flash, so you remain super flexible at all times.

Step On® bindings and boots are designed to connect optimally with each other and fit the binding perfectly to the board. The minimalist design completely dispenses with classic straps and instead relies on a secure clip system that firmly connects the boot to the binding.
