Hyped! Nitro Snowboards
Ever since their inception Nitro have continually managed to make an impression on the snowboard scene without having to make any compromises. Let us give you a quick round up of the story of one of the most famous and most authentic brands in the snowboard world so far:
30 years strong
It was in Seattle in 1989 that Sepp Ardelt and Tommy Delago made it their goal to develop snowboard products made by riders for riders and even from the very beginning the results were unique and innovative. Amongst the many innovations to come out of their workshop were the first asymmetrical twin tip snowboards, the first 3-piece freestyle bindings and the first snowboards with progressive sidecuts. With Nitro, it was clear to see early on that they were something out of the ordinary, something different to the mainstream. Aesthetics also played a big role in their success, something for which Nitro designer Paul Brown is responsible. He’s the man who shaped Nitro’s famous style. This aesthetic line is evident in everything they do and make, from snowboards, boots and bindings to outerwear.
The Story Continues…
Nitro’s story continues on in much the same fashion until the present day where there are 2 new camber concepts and 6 new snowboard models for you to discover. There are now 6 camber variations to choose from, so you’re bound to find something for you:
- Standard Camber
- Lowrider Camber (new)
- Roofchop Camber
- Zero Camber
- Gullwing Rocker
- Flatout Rocker (new)
These days you’ll also find more models equipped with Power Pods for extra edge grip and Railkiller Edges, which are 2.5 times more durable than a normal edge. But it isn’t just technically that their style has developed, but aesthetically too. There is a huge variety of different looks, from clean, simple designs and collaborations with artists like Estevan Oriol or Sullen, to one-off, rider-inspired pro boards. Whether you’re a park rat, freestyle rider of freeride junkie, there’s a Nitro snowboard for everyone. There are even 4 different splitboards for those who love a good backcountry tour.
Nitro boots famously feature the Twin Lacing System which gives you the ability to tighten your boots in two targeted zones for extra comfort. They are also super easy to get on and off feature redesigned inners for an even better fit. On top of that, each model is heat-mouldable to make sure your feet fit snugly in your boot.
There’s plenty to discover in Nitro’s range of Outerwear too: from high tech shell jackets and pants with Cocona technology, to slim fit snowwear styles. A broad range of fits and colours give you plenty of options to adjust your style to the weather conditions.
But it’s not just on the mountain that Nitro has your back, they also know what they’re doing closer to sea level too. Show the streets who’s boss with a rad bit of Nitro streetwear.
Nitro Binding Division - Innovation Guaranteed
Even the Nitro Binding Division are constantly working to perfect the art of binding making, bringing the new Team and Zero bindings to the market this year. Nitro’s binding range now features 3° base canting on 4 of their models, to give you an anatomically correct, natural stance. They even feature air dampening technology to protect your knees from harder landings. Aesthetically, too, Nitro Bindings will gain you a lot of attention this season. There’s a wide range of eye-catching designs for any terrain from the carbon highbacks of the high-tech Machine binding to the pure freestyle binding, the Zero, which gives you a real skate feeling.
Inspired and Tested by the Team
Nitro’s team riders have always had a big influence on the improvement and development of all of their products. From international stars of the scene like Eero Ettala, Jon Kooley, Marc Swoboda or Anna Gasser, to newcomers like Sam Taxwood, Benny Urban or Marcus Kleveland, all the way to the top quality Euro Team featuring riders like Ana Rumiha, Basti Rittig and Tobi Strauss, riders trust in Nitro products for their quality and performance.
