Why snowboard boots with dials change your riding

The BOA® Fit System has fundamentally changed the snowboard market. Instead of traditional laces, it combines a high-strength dial, low-friction lace guides and super-strong laces – such as the proven TX3 textile lace or stainless steel – into a system that delivers a fit that stays consistent all day long. Dial it in once, your heel stays locked in place and there's no need to readjust after a single run. And the results are scientifically proven: compared to traditional snowboard boot laces, BOA® PerformFit™ Wrap configurations deliver up to 4.5% improved power transfer and up to 9% improved stability and control. Developed and validated in the BOA® Human Performance Fit Lab (HPFL) – a state-of-the-art biomechanics lab at BOA® headquarters in Denver, Colorado. Curious about all the details? Our Blue World story tells you everything about the BOA® Fit System.

New: the H5 dial – fine-tune in both directions

To mark its 25th anniversary, BOA® is bringing a genuine innovation to the mountain with the H5 dial platform: for the first time, a dial on snowboard boots can be adjusted in both directions. Turn it clockwise or counter-clockwise to tighten or loosen your fit in sub-millimeter increments – anytime, even mid-ride, without having to release the full tension. Already proven in cycling and alpine skiing, multi-directional adjustability has now made its way into snowboard boots. The mirrored interface works the same on both boots: to tighten, turn side-mounted dials forward and tongue-mounted dials inward – to loosen, simply turn in the reverse direction. Push in to engage the dial, pull up to fully release the lace for a quick exit. Patented Coiler™ technology quickly takes up lace slack, speeding up boot entry.

On top of that, you get a durable, low-profile design and a bayonet and cartridge design: if you take a hard slam, the dial is engineered to release to prevent severe damage – and can be quickly reinserted. What's more, H5 contains 40% recycled material and uses up to 13% less plastic than previous dial platform generations. Good to know: some boots also feature an M+2 dial in the instep or lower zone – this one rotates in one direction only.

Find your flex: single, double or triple BOA

Depending on your riding style and level, you need different support on the mountain. The BOA® Fit System offers tailored configurations for exactly that – with fit and performance benefits increasing from one configuration to the next: Single BOA: One dial controls the entire boot from top to bottom. Pressure is distributed evenly for a super comfortable fit and the fastest possible entry. Double BOA (Dual Zone): Two separate dials let you adjust the forefoot and cuff independently of each other. Perfect for all-mountain riders and freestylers who want to actively and precisely control the flex of their boots. Triple BOA & Focus™ configuration: The premium class for riders who don't compromise. The BOA® PerformFit™ Wrap uniformly wraps over the foot, ankle and lower leg – with three independent dials, each zone can be fine-tuned individually. The result: your heel is locked in tight, pressure is distributed evenly across the cuff and shin, and you get maximum stability on hard landings and steep slopes.

Q&A: everything you need to know about the BOA® Fit System before you buy

How tough are the dials and laces really?

Extremely tough. Every BOA® dial goes through 150 different tests and more than 18,000 hours of development – plus over 40,000 hours of field testing a year with elite athletes. The proven warranty rate is under 0.5%. And just in case, The BOA® Lifetime Guarantee has you covered: the dials and laces are guaranteed for the lifetime of your boots.

Can I repair a broken BOA® dial myself?

Absolutely. The H5 features a bayonet and cartridge design: under heavy impact, the dial releases in a controlled way to prevent severe damage – and can be reinserted right away. For everything else, you can request a free repair kit and easily replace the dial yourself, whether at home or right at the resort.
