Slim fit is making a comeback, as is Bootcut, which sits slim on the thigh and opens up from the knee. Loose fits and Baggy cuts remain on trend, and Regular fits are timeless staples as always, just like Straight Fits and Wide Leg pants. The distinctive silhouette of the Barrel Cut remains an eye-catcher in 2026.

Regular Fit: classic cut with a balanced fit
Regular fit pants are neither tight nor wide, creating a balanced silhouette. The leg runs evenly from the hip to the hem and is easy to combine in different ways. Most commonly found from Levi's®, Volcom and Carhartt WIP.
Baggy Pants: loose look rooted in skate and streetwear
Baggy styles focus on volume from the hip to the hem, creating a relaxed, easy drape. The look is inspired by skate culture and works especially well with cropped tops or oversized layers. Often combined with bold prints or tattoo-inspired graphics, these pants are strongly represented by Carhartt WIP, Gramicci, Levi's, or Empyre.
Loose Fit: relaxed cut with more room through the leg
Loose fit pants feature a wider leg with noticeably more space from the thigh to the hem. The fit feels relaxed while staying controlled and easy to wear in everyday looks. They pair well with slimmer or more structured tops. At Blue Tomato you'll find plenty of options from brands like Levi's, Carhartt WIP, Gramicci, Deus Ex Machina and many more.
Ultra Loose Fit: extra wide cut for a bold oversized look
Ultra loose pants bring significantly more width throughout the entire leg, creating a standout silhouette. The fabric falls loosely, often combined with graphic elements or bold prints in streetwear styles. These pants are a strong part of the lineup at Affliction, Xlarge, Jungles Jungles or Carhartt WIP.
Slim Fit / Skinny: close fit from hip to ankle
Skinny and slim fits sit close to the body and follow the natural silhouette. These pants often include stretch for added comfort and mobility. Combined with prints or embroidery, they create a stronger contrast in the overall look. At Blue Tomato, you'll find these styles primarily from Ninth Hall, Volcom and True Religion.
Bootcut: slim on top with a slight flare from the knee
Bootcut pants fit closer at the hips and thighs and widen slightly from the knee down. This subtle flare creates a lengthened silhouette and works well with boots or sneakers with a higher sole. Most commonly found from Ninth Hall and True Religion.
Straight Fit: consistent shape without tapering
Straight fit pants run evenly from the thigh to the hem without narrowing. This creates a clean line and a calm overall look. Depending on the style, they can also feature prints or graphic details. You’ll find this versatile fit at Blue Tomato, including styles from Ninth Hall and Carhartt WIP.
Barrel: wider cut with a curved silhouette
Barrel pants have a slightly curved shape, more volume through the leg and a narrower finish at the hem. The fit feels modern and stands apart from classic straight cuts. Especially suited to styles that consciously play with shape and silhouette. Frequently found at Levi's, Carhartt WIP, Reell and Volcom.
Wide Leg: consistently wide, relaxed leg to the hem
This fit is defined by a generously wide cut that stays open from thigh to hem. The result is an extremely relaxed, voluminous silhouette that drapes perfectly over the shoe. Discover the fit from brands like Roxy, Carhartt WIP, adidas Originals, Empyre, Levi's, Affliction or Jungles Jungles.
Design & Finish: How details change the look
Alongside the fit, washes, prints, and finishes play a key role. They give your pants a distinct character and influence whether a style feels clean, bold, or worn-in.
- Washed: Faded, soft and broken-in
- Printed: Graphic prints, bold designs
- Embroidered: Stitched details, elevated look
- Distressed: Rips, raw edges, vintage feel
- Bling Details: Rhinestones, glitter, extra shine
Washed: faded finish with a softer feel
Washed pants have a deliberately faded surface that creates a soft, worn-in appearance. The colours feel less intense and add depth to the overall style. Especially common in denim and easy to combine.
Printed: bold designs with graphic elements
Printed styles use applied graphics, patterns, or lettering. From subtle logos to all-over designs, there’s a wide range of options. Especially in streetwear, prints create a more individual and often eye-catching look.
Embroidered: stitched details with added texture
Embroidery styles feature patterns or logos stitched directly into the fabric. This creates texture and a more premium look compared to prints. Depending on the design, pants can feel clean or more expressive and add subtle accents to your outfit.
Distressed: worn look with visible details
Distressed pants are charecterised by intentional signs of wear like rips, frayed edges, or faded areas. The look feels lived-in and adds a raw, casual edge to your outfit. Most commonly seen in denim and inspired by vintage styles.
Bling Details: rhinestones and glitter elements for extra shine
Sewn-on rhinestones, pearls or metallic appliqués add targeted glam accents and bring Y2K energy to your look. Especially strong in combination with baggy and wide-leg fits.
Jeans sizing: how to find your fit
Denim pants usually come in a variety of sizing systems. The American inch system uses two values – for example 30/32: the first number refers to the waist circumference in inches, the second to the inseam length. One inch equals 2.54 cm, so a size 30 corresponds to a waist circumference of approximately 76 cm.
Alongside this, some pants – especially baggy, loose and certain streetwear fits – simply come in S/M/L/XL. Here the sizing is based on the overall cut and often runs intentionally oversized. Classic denim brands tend to use inch measurements, while streetwear labels more commonly go with S–XL.
For some women's styles you'll find numeric sizing, typically from 0 to 14 – these are also based on US sizing and roughly correspond to the standard XXS–XXXL range.
At Blue Tomato, we want finding the right pants size to be as easy as possible. That's why every product comes with a detailed size chart showing equivalents in body measurements and other sizing systems. We also offer a handy Fit Finder for your individual size, plus precise measurements of the models on the product photos:
