Dakine Heli Pack - 25 years anniversary

In 1996 Dakine launched the successful 96 Heli Pack backpack for all snowboarders and skiers in the backcountry. Now the brand celebrates its 25th anniversary with a relaunch of the already iconic Heli Packs.

The background of the heli pack

Dakine launched the first backpack for backcountry snowboarders and skiers in 1996. Many snowboarders and skiers went into the backcountry without suitable equipment before the Heli Pack was created by Dakine. Until that time, there was simply nothing ideal for their needs. Following the wishes of the scene and the product feedback of snowboarder legend Tom Burt, Dakine developed the "96 Heli Pack 16L" in 1996, a high-quality backpack with relatively little volume, made for freeriding. The volume of the bag was as small as possible, but still had as much space as necessary for your safety equipment.

Heli Series Features

A full line was created after the original 96 Heli Pack. from the 12L Heli Pack to the 24L Heli Pro, the Heli Series backpacks are light and offers space for the necessary equipment. Everything you need for backcountry riding. The volume of the backpack is ideal and organises space for shovel and probe, your goggles, some food and First Aid Kit. Furthermore, you can put your snowboard or freeski on it, and so you have everything you need.

Heli Pack Generation 2020

Over the years Dakine has developed the heli series in its functionality and design. This year 2020 the brand celebrates its 25th anniversary with a relaunch of the successful heli series. The different fits from 12- to 20- and 24-litre versions are striking for their longer durability and the fact that they are made from recycled materials. The new Heli Pack Series is ideal for all those who have their equipment perfectly organised in the backcountry and still do not want to lose their freedom of movement.

The design of the collection is the well-thought-out result of product feedback and input from snowboard legend Tom Burt. Together with the Dakine team riders Sammy Carlson, Kazu Kokubo, Jamie Anderson and Bryan Fox they worked on the heli series.
