For this year’s team gathering, we got cozy! Accommodated in a small hut nestled on the mountain of Hochoetz, we managed to squeeze in 12 riders to join for a private session at the Styland Session. Taking up the last official gondola in the afternoon, we were stuck on the mountain for the next 3 days before riding the last patches of snow back down to the valley.
The first morning started with a Snowcat shuttle ride to the Snowpark - The Styland Session crew had built up a super creative and fun spring shred playground with tons of transition features, butter pads, creative jib options and even a proper jump and hip to get wild on.
After turning up the heat on the snow features, it was also time to turn up the heat in the sauna, and Yanneck made sure even the Finnish people were satisfied. In the meantime, our team manager managed to make food for the whole crew in a kitchen definitely not meant to cater for 20 people.
After another very cozy night, the day promised for even more laps on the ropetow lift that was built up just for us to save on skidoo gas and give our riders easy access to all the obstacles. The warm temperatures had taken their toll and the big arch had to be cut into a gap obstacle, which was immediately taken advantage of by many riders to try new tricks on. On both afternoons, our hopes for sunset shoots were smashed by dark rain clouds coming through right on time, but it also gave us a very special look for the last session of this gathering, where everyone went wild on the big volcano before hitting the sauna and having a last dinner together. Because the weather forecast already showed a downday ahead, the last night was properly celebrated. The next morning, the hut was brought back to its original condition before we headed down all the way to the valley on what little snow was left and the minimal layer that had fallen over night, everyone packed with backpacks, boxes and trashbags.
