Sweatpants – A new level of comfort
Even as far back as the 70s, these comfortable garments were already an essential. But nylon tracksuit pants were just the beginning: in the 1990s, tracksuits came into fashion and sweatpants came into their own. At the same time, there was a transition from man-made material to cotton. With this development, a new level of comfort, for both men and women alike, was guaranteed.
In the meantime, almost all sportswear manufacturers, including labels such as Nike and Adidas, started to not only offer shoes, but also sweatpants, or ‘joggers’. So that you are sure to stay comfy, most joggers are a relaxed fit, however slim and skinny fit styles are also available. Their lengths also vary from short to long, so that in case you work up a sweat while playing sports, you can simple swap your long-legged pants for a pair of jogger shorts.
Not just a sporting hit
In case you end up eating too much pizza, then no worries! Just get out of your jeans and into some sweatpants. Thanks to their elasticated, drawstring waistbands and elasticated ankles, you can be sure to make yourself comfy on the couch. It’s no wonder that joggers have managed to make their mark, not only as leisurewear but also as everyday wear. Casual styles, cool logos and irresistible prints make them into eye-catching garments, as well as giving wearers an extra portion of urban style.
Two equals one – the onesie
Another trend that has managed to conquer the hearts of many comfort crusaders is the onesie. A one-piece combines sweatpants and a top, normally in a hoodie style. Perfect for getting cosy on a rainy day.
Now that you can even celebrate ‘International Sweatpants Day’ on January 21st, nothing stands in your way! You can find a huge selection of variations and models, in all different colours and style, from brands such as Naketano, Billabong, Ninth Hall and many more, at Blue Tomato.
