With the Rock A Rail Contest, an international snowboard freestyle tour makes a guest appearance at Freestyle Roots in Thun in mid-October. But there is much more than "just" snow sports! Now the organizers are following up: After a three-year break and a trip to the shores of Lake Thun in September 2022, Freestyle Roots will return to its place of origin on the weekend of October 14 and 15, 2023.
From October 13 to 15 - these two worlds will meet on the Esplanade between the Stockhorn Arena and the Panorama Center in Thun. For the third time it is called Freestyle Roots. For the third time, snow sports, skate or bike action, live music, breakdance and graffiti art will not only be marveled at and celebrated over three days; those who want to can get started themselves in one of the numerous workshops for young and old.
On Saturday, October 14, the Rock A Rail Contest will be held for the first time on the edge of the Bernese Alps - nota bene with a magnificent view of all the iconic mountain peaks that the panorama in Thun has to offer. The contest will feature top cracks from the international freestyle ski and snowboard scene in action - along with countless other highlights in sports and culture; this one, for example, in the person of Swedish rapper Prop Dylan. With a first round of the rookie contest for mountain bikers, breakdancing, free skiing, a live stream from the Red Bull Rampage in Utah and an afterparty in the belly of the football stadium, things will get going full steam ahead on Friday, October 13.
Finally, Sunday, October 15, will be dedicated to families, with plenty of culinary delights, sports, dance, music and graffiti. Accordingly, the admission prices for the three-day event will also be family-friendly.
