The ultra-light version of the famous ARV 116 JJ

The ARV 116 JJ UL is the ultra-light version of the legendary ARV 116. The Caruba wood core makes the JJ UL 25 % lighter than the original and therefore ideal for tours in untouched terrain. The Directional Twin shape with Smear Tech 3D profile in tip and tail lets you float effortlessly through the powder, whether forward or switch.

Riding style
A freeride/touring ski for advanced riders. This ski offers top performance for deep powder, remains stable in difficult terrain and yet playful for freestyle-oriented riding. The lightweight construction still makes it an excellent touring ski.

Shape
This ski comes with a Directional Twin shape, the nose is a few millimetres wider than the tail, with a central binding position. Thus the ski offers you the same skiing characteristics forward and switch. However, thanks to the slightly wider nose you get a little more uplift in fresh snow.

Profile
This ski comes with a classic camber under the binding and a rocker in the nose and tail areas. This keeps the ski extremely manoeuvrable in powder and gives it an enormous uplift. The camber offers you good edge grip, pop and fast power transmission.

Flex
The medium flex makes the ski hard enough for powerful turns, but still soft enough for a playful ride.

Construction
The AR75 sidewall construction comes with a cap construction in tip and tail and with a sidewall under the binding. The cap construction in tip and tail reduces the swing weight, while the sidewall makes the ski more robust. The Caruba woodcore combines Armada's lightest woods for minimal weight on the ascent, while retaining the power and cushioning needed for descending the toughest terrain. The S7 base is robust and low maintenance and comes with a speed additive for more speed.

Ski er som regel leveret klar til brug med en vokset base og slebede kanter. Men denne såkaldte fabriksklargøring er ikke særlig holdbar og dine nye ski bør vokses efter et par dage og vedligholdes på regelmæssig basis.

Meget godt

Hi I have had these skis for the last two years and it is truly the best powder ski i have ever ridden. I have skied this ski all over Austria and taken it on a three week powder mission to Japan. I have also used this as a touring ski. I predominantly ride powder and freeride, either by lift access or touring and hiking to get it. I am very tall and ride the 192 which has ample float.

In powder the waist width and 3D tech mean that you're never sinking regardless of how deep the snow is. On hard pack it grips surprisingly well. The UL stands for ultralight, and the skis construction means that it is remarkably light while not losing any performance. I paired this ski with the Shift Binding so it works equally well touring up or freeriding down. I'd recommend this ski to anyone who wants a super light powder ski which still rips! Compared to other powder skis that I've ridden the only downside i can think of is the performance in ridden out or icy snow. However considering the light weight of the skis that's not too surprising, if it were stiffer, it would be heavier. So i'm willing to sacrifice a tiny teeny bit of hard snow performance.

I'd reccomend this ski to any rider who's looking for a new pair of premium powder skis. If you pair these with the Shift binding as I did, you can tour anywhere with these. I'd recommend to mount the ski on the 'freeride' line, as I find you have better soft snow performance.

Ich wollte endlich meinen Horizont erweitern und das Backcountry erforschen mit einem tourentauglichen Ski, ohne dabei Abstriche zu machen. Es gibt für mich kein besseres Gefühl, als mit meinen Skiern in tiefen Pulverschnee meine eigene Linie hinein zu zaubern. Das ganze dann noch mit Freestyle zu verbinden ergibt eine ordentliche Ladung Spaß. Ich bin 182 cm groß, circa 70 kg schwer und habe mich für eine Skilänge von 185 cm entschieden. Perfekte Entscheidung für mich um all diese Bereiche abdecken zu können. Groß genug um genügend Stabilität und Auftrieb im tiefen Schnee zu haben, gleichzeitig nicht zu lang um keine Agilität bei Tricks und Skitouren zu verlieren.

Mittlerweile konnte ich den Ski in jeglichen Bedingungen fahren und wurde nie enttäuscht. Seine Stärken liegen in tief verschneiten Hängen und Tree-Runs. Umso mehr Schnee, desto besser. Die leichte und weiche Bauweise ergeben ein unvergleichlich leichtes und verspieltes Fahrgefühl das richtig viel Spaß macht. Hingegen bei härterem Schnee bzw. schlechten Bedingungen verliert er etwas an Laufruhe.

Mein Fazit, perfekter Ski um die Bereiche Freeride, Freestyle und Touring unter einen Hut zu bringen. Verspielt, agil und reaktionsfreudig. Jeder der seine Freestyle Skills auf unverspurte Hänge bringen möchte, auf weiche Schaufeln und verspieltem Flex steht, ist mit diesem Ski goldrichtig.
