Snowpark Etiquette Do’s and Don’ts

The new winter season is just around the corner. To prepare yourself ideally for your first time exploring the mountains' freestyle offers, we have a few tips to help you find your way around a snow park.

By now, most big ski resorts have a snow park where you can find everything your freestyle heart desires - the offer ranges from flowing kicker lines to half pipes to a countless number of different obstacles. To make your next shred session one to remember, we've put together a guide with some Do's and Don'ts that you should definitely keep in mind while spending a casual day in the park. No matter if you are an experienced rider or just getting to know the scene.

Basics

"Have fun!" - This is probably the most important rule you should follow on every run for a good time on the mountain. Keep up the good vibes for a positive atmosphere in the whole park. You can achieve this by celebrating other riders' lines and tricks.

For a chill atmosphere in the park, friendly and above all respectful interaction between everyone in the park is important. This is especially important for all riders among each other. But also the relationship with the shapers should be right at any time - give them props for their hard work, after all they are the reason why we are able to have impeccable parks all season.

After all, helpfulness is always welcome. This applies especially in case of injuries, but also in giving a tip here and there to beginners and kids. We all started small in the park and a compliment or a trick tip of a better rider is always a big motivation in pushing a little harder.

Your Run

Before your Run

Before you start your run, there are a few things you should consider: First, get a good idea of the snow conditions. These can change during the day. Therefore be prepared to adjust your line at any time depending on the situation.

In addition, it is important that you correctly assess your own skills and adjust your run accordingly. Know your limits and increase step by step, this also applies to the choice of park. As a beginner you should avoid the pro parks until you are confident enough with your tricks. Once you have decided on a line, it is helpful to visualize it in your head. If you rather follow the motto "huck and pray" you can put yourself as well as others in danger. Don't be a Jerry!

It is also important to keep all take-offs, landings and obstacles clear and not to block them. This way you make sure that you don't disturb the others during their runs. Nobody appreciates that and it can be very dangerous.

During your Run

"Call your run" - before you start your run it is important that you signal it to the other riders. This prevents two or three of you from being in the same line at the same time. In addition, you should always look up before changing your line.

The next rule is also related to this: "Do not snake". Before starting your line, make sure you have enough distance to the rider in front of you to safely leave the feature.

Most importantly: „Keep the flow going“ at all times! Do not stop in the middle of your run between two features. Other riders might not be able to see the landing and therefore do not know that you are there.

Additional important aspects

Proper behaviour in the park also includes keeping it clean at all times. This should go without saying, but unfortunately it is sometimes neglected. Don't leave your rubbish on the slopes and throw it in the bins provided. If there are none, put the rubbish in your pockets first.

In addition, the right equipment must not be missing. Our goal is to provide you with the best possible equipment, in line with our motto "your ride. our mission". We have everything you need for your next park session, be it snowboards, freeskis or helmets & googles. Alternatively, you can also check out our Rent your Ride offer.
