Red Bull LEDGEnds 2026: A Great Day of Skating in Innsbruck
June 20, 2026 | Innsbruck Market Square | Go Skateboarding Days
Red Bull LEDGEnds came to Innsbruck for the first time on Saturday, June 20 — and it was a brilliant day. The market square in the city centre became the place to be for skateboarding fans, with great tricks, a happy crowd, and perfect weather from morning to evening.
Local and International Skaters Together
Skaters from Austria and many other countries came to ride a specially built ledge right in the heart of the city. American pro Jake Wooten was one of the biggest names at the event, and he skated alongside well-known Austrian riders like Marco Kada, Simon Rieder, and Lenni Pfeifer.
The format, created by Philipp Carl Riedl, is not a normal contest. The judges — Robert Klausner, Marco Varrese, and Alban Millaku — looked at the three best tricks from each skater per heat, and gave extra points for style and new ideas, not just difficulty. That made it exciting and fun to watch for everyone.
Big Tricks, Big Crowd
The qualifying rounds in the morning already showed a very high level of skating. Grinds, slides, and creative combinations got the crowd going early. The energy in the market square kept building all day.
Six skaters from five countries made it to the men's final: Marco Kada (Austria), Janos Herzog (Switzerland), Jonathan 'Jonny' Stoppel and Michael Heindl (Germany), Arturs Bogdanovics (Latvia), and David Mihalyfi (Hungary).
The Winners
In the men's final, Jonathan 'Jonny' Stoppel from Germany took first place. The 26-year-old had qualified online before the event. He impressed the judges with his technical tricks and the creative way he used every part of the ledge. When he was announced as the winner, he could hardly believe it.
In the women's competition, 19-year-old Julia Placek from Mödling in Lower Austria was the best on the day. She skated really well and won ahead of Argentina's Aldana Bertran and two Tyrolean locals, Melissa Matschoss and Simone Kirchebner. A very impressive performance for such a young skater.
The Ledge Stays in Innsbruck
After the event, there was more good news. The ledge obstacle that was built for Red Bull LEDGEnds will stay in Innsbruck permanently. It was handed over to One Day and the Innsbruck Skateboard Club, so local skaters can use it as a training spot and meeting place all year round.
One ledge. One great day. Innsbruck will not forget it.
