Spoilt for choice – mittens or gloves?

When choosing between mittens and gloves for men, women and children, personal taste is paramount. Mittens offer more insulation and have fewer seams, making them ideal for cold conditions, but they reduce flexibility for fine motorised tasks such as adjusting goggles. Finger gloves, on the other hand, offer better freedom of movement and are practical for activities that require more dexterity. Hybrid models combine the advantages of both variants by keeping the thumb and index finger separate while the other fingers are together.

Synthetic or leather gloves

The models differ primarily in their outer material. Many gloves are made of synthetic materials, i.e. they are free from animal substances. Although manufacturers are focussing on these modern materials, many skiers and snowboarders still swear by classic leather. Naturally water-repellent and extremely durable, you can count on your gloves even after years in the snow.

Membrane, insulation and technology in gloves

Whether leather or synthetic, both outer materials can be combined with a special treatment on the outside or a membrane on the inside to maximise breathability and waterproofness.

Gore-Tex® promises maximum breathability and waterproofness - even in the toughest conditions.

Hipora®

A special PU layer makes the glove waterproof, windproof and cold-resistant and is characterised above all by increased flexibility.

WINDSTOPPER®

This is a membrane made of ePTFE with DWR treatment. A lightweight material with breathable and windproof properties.

Down

Down is the ideal choice for dry and cold conditions. Hardly any other material keeps you so reliably warm and comfortable.

Primaloft®

PrimaLoft® is a patented microfibre insulation that effectively retains body heat. Even when wet, its high breathability ensures dry fingers.

Thinsulate™

Thinsulate™ uses microfibres that are ten times finer than conventional synthetic fibres. This structure provides improved insulation by effectively utilising your body heat to keep your hands warm.

Thermoliner

Thermoliner is a lightweight and soft fabric that provides excellent insulation. It is made from a unique fibre blend that effectively traps body heat.

Cold protection and style accessory at the same time

On the piste, both style and protection against cold and moisture are important. Long gloves offer effective protection against penetrating snow, while short models provide more mobility and also serve as fashion accessories with unusual designs. Ideal for use in deep snow, in the park or on the piste, these gloves combine functionality and style.
