Northwave Opal

Some days Northwave's riders ask their boots to jib, to ride pow, and for laps in the park. The Opal is the all-mountain boot with endless style and a commitment to comfort and versatility.

Outer Boot
The new Lightstep Outsole is the result of dedicated research and development seeking high-performing materials with a specific weight lower than average sole materials. The outsole is now 35% lighter compared to a traditional snowboard outsole. It can keep a perfect grip thanks to the
new structure and new gripping design geometry, which has been built with innovative materials in order guarantee higher abrasion resistance. On top of that, it provides a perfect thermal isolation, protecting feet from the cold outside, and it constantly cushions every vibration and impact.

TF2 Liner
New advanced lining material in Thermo-Fit Foam with target fit zones that can catalyze instantly with a heater or over time from natural body heat. Malleolus area anatomically designed and reinforced with injected memory foam for better retention and comfort on the feet. Brand new webbing on the liner: the loops have been positioned on the edges of the liner, while the exclusive tongue side-cut naturally adapts to the instep, thus permitting the closest fit, and distributing the power of transmission all over the liner surface. Northwave analyzed the athletes’ movements so to avoid the contact points and place the padding only where needed and at the right thickness to create the perfect interface, even matching the binding’s ankle strap. Comfortable EVA footbed with side supports for better thermal insulation and for shock absorption.
The women’s version comes with a specific women’s shaped cut in the calf area.

Lacing
The Super Lace SL Speed Lacing System allows the closure of two different boot areas, the quarter part, and the collar part, in order to allow you to select the perfect feeling on each part and improve comfort and foot stability. Your boot will be closed quickly and will stay tight and perform all day. The 540° Heel Retention System passes the boot laces through pre-curved lace loops which help to minimize friction. When the laces are pulled to close the boot, they are simultaneously pulling the webbing where the lace loops are linked tight increasing heel stability. This mechanism is a result of the webbing passing through a hole from the side of the boot tightening the liner over the ankle area. The more the lace is pulled the more power will be transferred through the ankle area, increasing heel retention performance and foot stability.
