Product description
Recharge your batteries with the limited retro edition of the Burton Speed Date
A retro spin on the Family Tree’s fastest new addition, inspired by snowboarding’s signature event: the banked slalom.
The Burton designers called it “the banked slalom board” from day one, so you know it’s built to turn. The Speed Date features a special blend of Balanced Freeride Geometry that thrives on all terrain. Directional Camber combines with a unique shape, aggressive sidecut and just the right amount of taper to burn turns and eat berms for breakfast.
Riding Style
The Family Tree Speed Date is a quick and agile freeride board. Made for the riders that want to ride any kind of untouched terrain, from the wide open backcountry to narrow tree lines.
Shape
The Directional Shape is the classic snowboard shape, designed to be ridden with a slightly longer nose than tail to concentrate pop in the tail while still giving you plenty of float, flow and control to rip any terrain or condition. A tapered shape means the nose is wider than the tail, promoting smooth turn entry and exit, stability at speed and enhanced deep snow floatation. Pro-Tip™ is a tapered tip and tail thickness, which reduces swing weight for easier mobility.
Profile
Entry rocker causes the nose to lift while camber under both feet maintains momentum and stability through deep-driving turns and variable conditions.
Flex
The Directional Flex ensures increased pop in the tail and a more resilient nose that allows riders to easily maintain control through all terrain and conditions.
Construction
The FSC™ Certified Dragonfly™ 600G Core uses end-grain woods in impact zones which allows Burton to swap heavier woods for lighter weight species without sacrificing strength.
Multizone EGD™ technology is made of engineered wood grains.
In four separate zones, the wood grain is perpendicular to the core and enables the rides unique edge control and ultimate strenght.
Within the Squeezebox profile riders get an easier board control. The profiled core also improves pop and perfomance. Through the balance of thicker, more powerful core sections with thinner, more flexible sections the riders energy is transferred outward from beneath the feet. Therefore tip and tail get energized while making the board snappier, more stable, and easier to manipulate.
45° Carbon Highlights is a fiber angle which provides a more aggressive ride. Carbon Highlights optimizes each layer of the fiberglass matrix and adds a full tip-to-tail carbon layer to reduce weight and fine tune torsional feel to achieve different ride characteristics.
In the Sintered WFO Base, a specially formulated wax is infused deep into the pores of this extra-absorbent, high-density sintered material resulting in an ultra durable base that stays Wide F!#@ing Open all season, in any condition.
Stronger, faster, easier and more adjustable - The Channel™ gives you ultimate control of your stance and your board in a design compatible with all major bindings (not just Burton's). Better yet, all boards with The Channel™ are covered with a 3-year warranty.

Snowboards are usually delivered ready-to-ride with a waxed base and sharpened edges. However, this so-called factory-tuning is not very durable and your new snowboard should be properly waxed after a few days and maintained on a regular basis.
