YOW Power Surfing Series for wide, fluid turns

J-Bay is one of the longest and most perfect right-handed waves in the world. If the conditions are proper, you can surf for up to 1 km with several barrel sections. The YOW J-Bay shape is inspired by a classic Tom Curren surfboard with a rounded tail and classic shortboard outline. The board comes with large, soft wheels for excellent carving control and an overall smoother ride.

Power Surfing Series
The boards of the Power Surfing series have a longer wheelbase and a medium concave, which directly affects how the surfskate feels during turns. A perfect combination if you want to focus on practicing wide and fast turns, pumps, or just a more fluid line.

Riding style
The movement on the YOW board is so similar to that on a surfboard that it acts as a surf trainer, as you directly learn the posture and weight shift required for surfing. With the stable J-Bay, especially fast and long-drawn turns are incredibly fun.

The YOW System
The YOW Meraki S5 surf skate system is the latest generation and is significantly lighter than its forerunner. The vast rotation of the front truck allows for tight turns, but due to the 5 mm spring, it is a little less responsive than the S4 system. It was designed for riders above 50 kg body weight and for all those who are looking for a more stable ride.

Setup
The components are perfectly adjusted to the board. The soft wheels provide the best grip and speed, even on rough surfaces. The deck comes in a proven maple wood construction.

Mijn naam is Sam, ik surf nu 5 jaar en ben voornamelijk te vinden op een longboard. Omdat ik ook mijn shortboard surfstijl wil verbeteren ben ik op zoek gegaan naar een surfskate met een los en 'agressief' gevoel. Ik heb surfskates van Carver, Ultimate Boards en YOW geprobeerd en uiteindelijk gekozen voor de YOW J-Bay.

De Carver en YOW zijn vergelijkbaar. Beide maken gebruik van een voorste truck met veer systeem. Dit zorgt er voor dat de trucks soepel kunnen bewegen en snel reageren op elke beweging die wordt gemaakt. Dit maakt het mogelijk om korte 'turns' of agressieve 'slashes' te maken op vlak asfalt of in een bowl.
Het nadeel hier van is, is dat deze surfskates instabieler worden zodra je een hogere snelheid bereikt. Ook het steppen om snelheid te maken is wat lastiger dan bijvoorbeeld op de Ultimate Boards.

Ik ben ontzettend blij met deze keuze, de surftraining voor de golfloze dagen, maar ook leuk om rustig over de boulevard te rollen!
