Powell Peralta skateboards definitely have a nostalgic appeal, even if the decks are new off the press. The Vato Rat was designed by artist Craig Stecyk in the 70s and has its origins in the "Z Boy" surf skating scene of Santa Monica, California, and was one of the many symbols that Craig Stecyk used to decorate his surfboards and mark his territory in the local surfing spots.
Riding style

Shape
The shape of the deck is classic: the nose is slightly longer than the tail and the concave makes for a stable ride.
Setup
