Short and wide - the T-Rice Orca represents maximum fun on the whole mountain

With the T-Rice Orca, you can shred your favourite pillow lines like a dream and get creative on the groomers. A tight sidecut radius combined with a wider shape lets you link Euro-carves without toe-drags. The long floaty nose and the "whale tail" offer tons of fun in and out of the backcountry.

The Orca is a downsized snowboard. It is designed to ride it 6 - 10 cm shorter than your regular freeride snowboard. Just as a reference point for you: Travis Rice rides it in 153 cm.

Riding Style
This board is perfect for you, if you are an advanced rider and always on the hunt for untouched pow fields and deep carving turns.

Shape
A Tapered Directional board is the best for all-mountain freeriding. The nose is longer and wider than the tail, giving you plenty of control in any terrain, and the stance is set back to help you float above the pow. The Magne-Traction serrated edges give great edge hold all over the mountain, especially on hard pack and ice.

Profile
C2x means short rocker between the bindings combined with large cambers under the bindings. This combination offers good edge hold thanks to the camber underfoot, as well as great float in powder and unlimited freestyle action without hang-ups thanks to the rocker.

Flex
The medium-stiff flex provides you with a lively board that allows you to stay in control at all speeds and pop over everything.

Construction
The 'Horsepower construction' HP is lighter than the 'Original Power Construction' OP, environmentally nicer due to the usage of bio beans and basalt fibre and offers an extremely smooth ride. The Aspen and Paulownia wood core is robust with a lot of pop. The top sheet is made of Eco-sublimated bio beans. The sintered Base is very fast but requires careful maintenance.

Ich war auf der Suche nach einem Powder Board mit guten Pisten Verhalten. Die meiste Zeit bin ich im Tiefschnee unterwegs, fahre ab und zu aber auch auf eisigen Pisten. Aus diesem Grund habe ich mich für das Orca entschieden, da es hervorragenden Auftrieb im Tiefschnee und auf der anderen Seite einen guten und stabilen Kantenhalt auf hart ausgelegten Pisten bietet. Ich bin selber 185 cm groß, meine Schuhgröße ist 44, im diesen Sinne habe ich mich für das Orca 159 entschieden. Ich habe eine Weile nachgedacht ob ich das 153 nehmen soll, habe mich dann am Ende für das 159 entschieden. Die Auswahl bereue ich nicht, da mir die Länge die nötige Stabilität bei höheren Geschwindigkeiten bietet. Auf der anderen Seite verleiht das Brett ein spielerische Gefühl beim fahren und einen mega Auftrieb im Tiefschnee.

Das Board konnte ich sowohl über zerfahrenen Powder als auch auf der Piste ergiebig testen. Dabei blieb es bei schnellen Fahrten sehr stabil und steif, im Tiefschnee hat es mich ohne Aufwand und schmerzen gut getragen und es gab mir ein Gefühl vom Surfen! Die längere Nose des Boards bietet viel Spaß im Tiefschnee, bei größeren Sprüngen und Landungen ist das Board sehr stabil geblieben. Ich bin nie Wide Boards gefahren, das Orca ist mein erstes Brett das ein wenig breiter ausgelegt ist. Ich habe die Breite nie als negativ empfunden, gerade wegen der Breite konnte ich mich in die Kurven mehr reinlegen und das Board in allen Bedingungen super nutzen.

Ich würde das Board allen erfahrenen Fahrern empfehlen die ein spielerisches Board für Tiefschnee suchen und auf der anderen Seite ein Brett für den Alltag brauchen mit dem man gut und stabil auf hart ausgelegten Pisten fahren kann.

Man liest den ganzen Hype um dieses Board und fragt sich, ob das wirklich stimmen kann – aber dieses Board ist einfach fantastisch! Ich bin total happy, dass ich mich für das Orca entschieden habe. Wenn es möglich ist, bin ich im Powder unterwegs und da ist das Orca perfekt dafür gemacht. Ich habe mich für die Länge von 150 entschieden (ein bisschen kürzer als meine bisherigen Freerideboards 154–156) aber dadurch, dass das Board um einiges breiter ist und man so genügend Auftrieb hat, passt die Länge perfekt für mich.

Das Libtech T.Rice Orca ist breiter als die Boards die ich bisher gefahren bin, aber es verliert dadurch nichts an Wendigkeit, auch engere Tree-Runs machen richtig viel Spaß. Das Board gibt die nötige Stabilität im Powder und man hat ein Gefühl wie beim Surfen.
Das Orca ist auch auf der Piste sehr stabil und man kann richtig viel Speed aufnehmen und carven. Durch die Magne Traction Technologie hat man einen verbesserten Kantenhalt, das hab ich vor allem bei eisigen Verhältnissen gemerkt.

Ich bin begeistert und würde das Board jedem Snowboarder / Snowboarderin empfehlen die sich im Powder wirklich austoben wollen. Wie schon oben geschrieben reicht es völlig, wenn man sich für eine kürzer Variante entscheidet, weil das Board durch die Breite extrem viel Auftrieb hat. Ich finde das Board können auch ruhig mehr Girls fahren. Ich denke kleinere und leichter Frauen sollten das 147 Orca wählen. Mann muss hier wirklich keine Scheu haben das Board in einer kürzern Länge zu fahren, das gilt natürlich auch für alle Männer. Ich stehe schon sehr lange auf dem Board aber noch nie hatte ich so ein gutes Feeling bei einem Snowboard.
