Go Skateboarding Days 2026: Three Days, One City, Pure Skate Culture
How Innsbruck became the beating hearth of Austrian skateboarding and connected an entire community.
~3,000 Participants · 60+ Volunteers · 30 Photographers & filmmakers · 50+ Partners
It is done! and it was everything. The Go Skateboarding Days 2026 wrapped up in Innsbruck after three full days of skating, music, film, exhibitions, and community. For the first time ever, the event ran across an entire weekend, and the city rose to the moment. From the Tacheles to the Marktplatz to the Landhausplatz, Innsbruck became the centre of skateboard culture in Austria and well beyond — spreading across 35,000 m² of public space.
Behind the event is ONE DAY's core belief: more social cohesion through skateboard culture. For three days, GSDS26 made exactly that feeling come alive, and the enthusiasm was palpable throughout the whole city.
Day 1 · Friday
Tacheles Blockparty
Friday evening set the tone perfectly. From 15:00 to 22:00, the Tacheles turned into a lively skate space open to everyone. All levels were welcome, with special Blue Tomato obstacles, a Flinta session hosted by Boobiebrettler, a Game of Skate, cash for tricks, food, drinks, and live music. No pressure and no tickets, just the community showing up. The afterparty carried on until late at Blue Chip.
Day 2 · Saturday
The Big Stage
Saturday was the main event. From 10:00 until late, the Marktplatz was transformed into a full skateboarding hotspot. Red Bull LEDGEnds took over the square for the whole day, with open qualification rounds in the morning and final heats in the evening. Local heroes met international pros on one ledge, and the crowd grew bigger with every trick. By the end of the day, Germany's Jonathan 'Jonny' Stoppel had won the men's competition and Austria's Julia Placek claimed the women's title; Both with performances that had the whole square cheering.
During the day, the Blue Tomato Shop hosted a live screen printing session from 11:00 to 16:00, where the official limited GSDS26 T-shirt was printed on the spot. In the evening, the Leica x Lamprechter x ONE DAY photo exhibition opened at Kiebachgasse 5, celebrating decades of local skate photography with a clubhouse talk and open house running until 02:00.
Day 3 · Sunday
The City as a Skate Park
Sunday showed a different side of the weekend; More open, more relaxed, but just as full of energy. Three sessions spread the action across the city: the Southside Session at Tivoli Skatepark and Olympiapark (family skate, beginner workshops, a coffee race), the Downtown Meltdown along Wiltener Platzl and Leopoldstrasse, and the Not Just Landi session at the Landhausplatz to close out the weekend, featuring the Red Bull LEDGEnds obstacle and the icecreamsb Death Race as a grand finale.
What made GSDS26 truly special was its open, and family character. Even though, passers-by, neighbours, and tourists became part of the experience just as naturally as the core skate community. International greats of the scene felt it too.
You could feel again why you actually love skateboarding so much.

Skate YouTuber TheSkateNomad went even further, calling it the "best Go Skateboarding Day ever".
The event also demonstrated how skate culture can enliven public space, connect people of all backgrounds, and positively shape a cityscape. It is only possible through collaboration across the scene — local skate crews, creatives, retailers, industry partners, local authorities, and over 60 volunteers all coming together. The press noticed too, with coverage from Tiroler Tageszeitung, FM4/ORF, meinbezirk.at, Red Bull, and Blue Tomato.
