The direction was simple: Build the lightest and strongest bindings with the absolute best ingredients, worry about what accounting thinks later. Burton recruited the team, cranked up the lab, and went to work. With hard drives smoking, calculations firing, flex tested, and scales calibrated, the Burton X-Base was born. The culmination of every R&D resource at Burton’s disposal, it’s hyper-reactive and incredibly comfortable in the lightest weight binding Burton's technicians can build (so far).

Highback
The Carbon Composite Ultra Hi-Back is constructed with a super lightweight composite that is also hyper-responsive. Resulting in a highback that will provide a feather-light feeling combined with laser-like precision at high speeds.

Baseplate
Re:Flex® offers more flex and board feel than traditional disc bindings. The minimised, cored baseplate reduces weight and expands the cushioning potential. A Single-Component Baseplate throughout creates a consistent response and feel for all-terrain domination. Made of 50:50 Carbon Fibre/Nylon this baseplate is very lightweight and responsive with a dramatically improved board flex and feel. The Re:Flex FullBED Cushioning system offers a full coverage, cushioned platform that maximises comfort while minimising fatigue. Anchored to the baseplate, its stealth trap door design makes it easy to access the mounting hardware.  

Straps
Featuring the same minimal and seamlessly comfortable design as the Hammockstrap, the asymmetrical pad and spine shape of the Asym Hammockstrap® wraps the boot in response. Flip the straps for increased freedom, or run stock for power and support. The minimalist design of the Supergrip Capstrap® 2.0 merges two materials into one technologically advanced toe strap. A firmer material in the spine provides a supportive and lightweight skeleton, while a softer over-moulded material improves boot wrap and comfort. Be the first to drop in with the rapid ratcheting of Burton’s Double Take Buckles. Helical teeth and “Insta-Click” engagement combine for increased torque per crank, faster uptake, and fewer cranks to tightness. The result: vastly improved strength, speed, and ease-of-use.
