In 2017, Billabong launched the series of Recycler Boardshorts becoming the first company producing boardshorts out of recycled P.E.T bottles. In spring 2019, they can proudly announce, that all their boardshorts are produced with no other material than recycled plastic bottles. This is a big step towards a sustainable serial production as well as a great example for many other companies.

For the production, Billabong collects plastic bottles on a constant base, which are then, broke down into so-called pallets. Eventually, those very fine particles will be spun into yarn, which then, could be woven into fabric. In the last step, the resulted fabrics are used to put together, the different parts of the boardshorts.
