Nice before wash

The pants were a nice fit and I loved the colour, they were probably my new favorite pants. After the first wash though, I felt as if they lost a fair bit of colour, I was not quite sure and thought that it might be normal for jeans to lose a certain amount of colour. After the second wash they looked nothing like the original prouduct and I noticed two tears around the back pocket. I washed them according to instructions and with similar darker colours, I have no idea how they could turn out like this, but I am very disapointed.
Maybe I did something wrong with the wash or maybe they missed some kind of treatment with my particular pair of pants and you might have a different experience.
