The brand is a winner, with its wide range of freeskis , ski poles, climbing equipment , avalanche backpacks, shovels, probes and touring accessories. It all started in the 70s with the Swiss climber Christian Jaegi. His climbing equipment was an instant success, which the company has since mirrored in its ever-increasing reach into other market niches. While everything is about climbing in the summer, there was a natural understanding that a lot can also be accomplished in the winter market. Thus, the label's first branded ski was produced in 2004, and soon after Black Diamond grew to become a pioneer of the touring and freeski scene.
