The Spark R&D Surge splitboard binding is built for big days on big lines. Preferred by bigger, more aggressive riders, this binding features a solid baseplate design, stiffer Rip ‘N’ Flip highbacks, more supportive ankle straps combined to ensure the best control in demanding terrain.
Tesla T1 Splitboard technology
The T1 system features the Whammy Bar: A single fatty wire with a side arm lever. You can switch easily from stowed, to low (12°), to high (18°) climbing positions and back again while touring. The T1 Heel Rest catches the climbing wire in the 12° and 18° positions. T1 bindings slide sideways into offset Touring Brackets and are locked into place with the Snap Ramps. No pins, no cables, no fiddle factor.
The Surge features a stiffer version of the Rip ‘N’ Flip Highback for riders who prefer maximum response. The Rip ‘N’ Flip Highback features a Touring Modus (-13°) and a Riding Modus. The Riding Modus can be adjusted tool-free from 0° to 22° for complete customization of your forward lean angle.
The CNC machined baseplates remain solid for maximum stiffness and durability.
Pillow Line Straps are lightweight, durable, comfortable, waterproof, one-piece moulded construction, and made 100% in-house at Spark. Ankle Straps are wide and asymmetrical around the boot for incredible all around support. Toe Straps are designed to be used as a toe cap, but also fit nicely as a traditional strap across the top of the boot.
The Spark came when founder Will took his first trip into the backcountry. What started as an quirky idea, has in ten years turned into a successful company that created the first ever splitboard specific binding. Everything from design to packaging is done in-house and thanks to the factory location all products and prototypes can be tested fresh out of the oven. A dream come true for the Spark team.
