Nike SB Chron Solarsoft Sapatilhas de Skate

Nike SB (Skateboarding) shoes are by far my favorite shoes to skate on. After skateboarding on the Janoski's, I saw the Nike SB Chrons (with a Solarsoft sole) and I wanted to give those shoes a try. With my previous skate shoes, I never felt a lot of support from within the shoe. The Janoski's for example do not have a lot of foot bed inside of them, which gives them great boardfeel. But I wanted to try something more supportive and that is where the Nike SB Chron Solarsoft came in. I am 177 cm with a normal posture. I have one of the most common shoe sizes for women (between US 7 and 7.5, EU 39/40). I always try to find shoes with the right balance between comfort and boardfeel. I do not want my shoes to be too thick, because I want to feel my board. But I also want to have enough comfort to skate a little bit of impact. I do not want to feel the ground immediately if I land besides (or on top of) my board. That is why I chose to skate the Nike SB Chron Solarsoft.

The shoes are very comfortable. The Solarsoft sole (which you can take out if you prefer using your own insoles) have a lot of cushion in them, which makes skateboarding comfortable. At the same time, I still have a lot of boardfeel: the Solarsoft insoles still give me the right amount of boardfeel as I am doing my tricks: I can feel the concave very well. They give a lot of support while walking, cruising around and skateboarding. On the other side: they seem just as soft on the outside as they are on the inside. After a couple of ollies, I already started tearing the outside fabric apart. There is some suede on the outside, but the rest is canvas and you can absolutely see that after a couple of sessions on your board. The fabrics tear apart easily.

The Chron Solarsoft shoe from Nike SB is a very comfortable shoe and helps me with doing more impact skateboarding. They are not that durable though. You can put some ShoeGoo on the sides in advance to prevent them from tearing apart fast, but I like my shoes clean when I just bought them. On the other hand: the Chrons are cheaper than Janoski's for example, so you can see that back in the materials that they used. If you want comfort for a nice price, I would definitely recommend you to pick the Nike SB Chrons.

I initially chose the Nike Chron's because of their reasonable price; as someone who is always either skateboarding or traveling in order to snowboard or surf, I often need new sneakers and didn't want to break the bank. As a tall guy I was positively surprised by how comfortable the Solarsoft sole is, my feet are definitely happy I chose these sneakers. Furthermore, the shoes not only feel comfy but also give you plenty of support and the sole doesn't give you less feel on your skateboard; they feel secure and light without breaking easily. I tested EU size 43.5, 44 and 44.5's and felt that they were a little on the small side of things, I needed to go half a size up compared to either Vans or Adidas skateboarding shoes in order for them to fit well. My feet are relatively skinny but the Nikes don't feel too wide or loose at all, ideal for a skateboard shoe with a lot of feel to it.

I go to skateparks throughout Utrecht, where our shop is based, skating both indoor and outdoor. The sneakers don't slip and slide on even floors like in a concrete skatepark, which I felt was really important because I want to both feel where I'm going and be able to push / stop quickly and strongly when I'm approaching a feature. I've previously skated both Adidas and Vans sneakers, both of which broke relatively quickly. With Adidas it was the sole, with Vans the top of the shoe. These Nikes seem more sturdy but still lightweight, so I'm very hopeful they'll last a lot longer! The only downside I have found so far is that they're quite warm, which might be nice during winter but can become slightly uncomfortable during a long skateboard session.

I would definitely recommend these shoes, both for their feel and for the price! Just make sure to try them out in the shop in order to really be able to tell which size fits you best, as they can be slightly different in fit compared to other skateboard brands. Enjoy your session!
