Patagonia - Outdoor brand with commitment

Patagonia donates 1% of its turnover to environmental protection organizations. The clothing is therefore not only appreciated for its fashionable designs. Those who practice outdoor sports such as skiing, snowboarding, surfing, climbing, paddling and running appreciate the brand highly. It is robust, casual and, above all, future-oriented.

A small family business has grown into a large company with the aim of protecting the environment as much as possible. The core sports of the brand overlap strongly with those of Blue Tomato. They are all nature-oriented activities that do not require any motorised support. The focus here is on man's connection with nature. Patagonia donates 1% of its total turnover to environmental protection so that future generations can also experience these unique moments.

Long-living clothing from Patagonia

The brand relies first and foremost on high-quality and extremely robust clothing. It is not only intended to last for years, but in the event of damage it should be repairable and eventually recyclable. While many brands manufacture their products as cheaply as possible and encourage customers to buy new ones, Patagonia's sales strategy works the other way around. The longevity of the products is in the center of attention and guarantees the brand a solid customer base that is growing constantly.

A special project that supports these values is the Worn-Wear Tour, in which a specially designed truck drives through Europe from January to April with popular ski resorts as its destinations. There, used winter sports clothing can be repaired for free - regardless of the brand. The motto is: repair don't spare! The higher the amount of clothing that can be repaired, the less is thrown away and bought again, which benefits the environment.

Fair-Trade and sustainable materials

Of course, the production and distribution of a large company like Patagonia is always a burden on the environment. Being aware of this, Patagonia is constantly looking for solutions to work even more sustainable and energy saving. Especially the choice of the right materials is in focus. Instead of choosing the materials that would be the easiest and cheapest to obtain, the company's representatives travel around the world to find the best quality, fair-trade and sustainable materials.

During production, neoprene suits are extremely polluting for the environment. But since Patagonia also supplies the surfing scene, the brand has set itself the target of finding a material that goes hand in hand with nature protection. The answer are the YULEX wetsuits. These wetsuits are made of natural material and are 100% recyclable.

Almost 2/3 of Patagonia's styles are already Fair-Trade certifyed and the brand keeps working on making this a standard in all their collections. Learn more about Patagonia and Fair Trade.
