The new Jones Stratos Ltd is a hybrid all-mountain board built with the body of a directional freeride board and the spirit of a freestyle board. The Stratos has a playful board feel thanks to a narrow sidecut and friendly flex, but the 10mm of taper and 3D Contour Base 3.0 give it the float and turn performance of a pow board. The directional rocker profile and Traction Tech 3.0 keep the Stratos locked on edge accelerating into carves and the textured Eco-plastic topsheet and Basalt stringers add torsional response and reduce board chatter in rough terrain. The Stratos also features our new Float Pack inserts. The Float Pack offers a setback stance option for the deepest days. For improved sustainability, the Stratos is built with Super Sap Bio Resin instead of standard petroleum-based epoxy and an Ultra wood core.
Freeriding, combined with Freestyle. On the whole mountain but especially in pow.
The Stratos has a Tapered Directional Shape which increases float and stability at speed. Directional is the classic snowboard shape, designed to be ridden with a slightly longer nose than tail to concentrate pop in the tail while still giving you plenty of float, flow, and control to rip any terrain and condition. A tapered shape means the nose is wider than the tail, this enhances deep snow flotation. In deep snow, the Blunt Nose makes sure that less snow comes over the sides of your nose, as that would obviously slow you down. This also means you get the benefits of a longer traditional nose, without the extra weight. Edges like a serrated knife slicing into the snow, Traction Tech 3.0 improves your edge grip by adding multiple contact points along the running length of your board. At the far ends of the Progressive Sidecut, the radius is incrementally increased as the edge reaches the contact point. Gradually increasing the sidecut radius towards the contact point delivers smoother turn initiation and exit as the edge tracks in and out of the snow with a less abrupt transition.
The Directional Rocker profile has an under-foot camber with a larger rocker area in the nose than in the tail. The float of the rockered nose improves manoeuvrability while the camber underfoot provides edge hold and response. The slightly rockered tail maintains power and stability but helps to keep the tail catch-free when initiating turns and landing switch.
The 3D Base Contour 3.0, a freeride focused 3D-base contour featuring an even balance of 7mm of spoon bevel in the nose and 7mm of spoon bevel in the tail, floatation is guaranteed.
A softer flex ensures freestyle feeling in powder wonderlands.
The new Ultra Core is the lightest wood core yet. Ultra Core is made from mostly paulownia with specially positioned poplar stringers for better durability and turn power. The raw materials used to make Super Sap Bio-Resin are coproducts or waste products of other plant-based industrial processes. Producing Super Sap requires 33% less greenhouse gas emissions than conventional epoxy. New composite wood veneer topsheets made from 100% FSC certified wood. Wood veneer topsheets dampen ride and absorb board chatter. The Sintered 9900 Base is made from Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMW-PE) and Carbon. This ultra-fast base is easy to repair thanks to the UHMW-PE. Jones boards are made with Oversized Recycled Steel Edges for added durability and improved production sustainability. The Stratos are factory waxed with WEND natural wax as well as factory de-tuned at the tip and tail so you can go right from the shop to the mountain. By flip flopping the base graphic colour, P-Tex waste is drastically reduced by increasing the material yield.
«El snowboard no es mi trabajo, es mi vida». Jeremy Jones, fundador de Jones Snowboards, dice mucho con pocas palabras. Quería crear material innovador que estuviera a la altura de los mejores y ha hecho exactamente eso. La empresa se enorgullece de devolver un trocito de sus ganancias a la naturaleza que tanto aprecia a través de asociaciones como 1% For the Planet. No hay nada que no nos encante de Jeremy Jones y su filosofía.
