FAQs – Frequently asked questions about Owala® water bottles
What is FreeSip®?
The patented FreeSip® spout combines two options in one: sip through the integrated straw or drink directly from the wide opening – whatever feels right in the moment.
Do Owala® bottles contain lead?
No. Owala bottles have always been and continue to be completely lead-free und BPA-free.
Can I fill them with coffee or sparkling drinks?
It depends on the model. FreeSip® and Kids versions are designed for cold, still beverages only. The 40 oz and 24 oz tumblers as well as the SmoothSip® can also be used with hot or carbonated drinks.
Dishwasher-safe?
Lid and straw: yes – place the lid on the top rack and the straw in the cutlery basket. The stainless steel cup is best washed by hand to protect the finish.
Freezer-safe?
Technically possible for stainless steel, but not necessary – the triple insulation keeps your drink cold anyway. Just add ice cubes. Plastic bottles should not be frozen.
Microwave-safe?
Short answer: no.
