Product description
Light on its feet in pillows and tight trees
Sage Kotsenburg wanted a board for pillowy snow, dense forest and technical terrain. The tail had to pivot and release freely, so you can simply follow the natural contours in front of you. After plenty of prototypes with K2's design team, the result is the Sky Pilot from the Dopamine Collection. Its slightly wider platform with Volume Shift™ moves surface area from the nose and tail to underfoot. You get float in deep snow, no toe or heel drag and less swing weight. That's why you should size down 3–5 cm from your usual length. It's playful and precise at the same time, and it still lays down clean carves on the piste. That makes it a strong pick for intermediate to expert freeriders. Sizes, flex and waist widths are scaled, so the board also suits riders with smaller feet.
Spoon, carbon and a core with character
The 3D Base Contour lifts the contact points in the nose and tail slightly off the snow. That makes the board easy to pivot in powder and quicker to start a turn, while it stays predictable on hardpack. The Carbon Y-Beam™ adds snap and stability to the tail and sends energy to the contact points in the nose. You get edge hold and composure without unnecessary torsional stiffness. The S1 Core feels nicely damp underfoot. Tip-to-tail stringers deliver real pop, and lighter woods in the nose and tail keep swing weight low.

Snowboards are usually delivered ready-to-ride with a waxed base and sharpened edges. However, this so-called factory-tuning is not very durable and your new snowboard should be properly waxed after a few days and maintained on a regular basis.
