The most durable skateboarding shoe on the market has partnered with one of the world’s top manufacturers of premium rubber to develop an outsole that is 3 times more durable.
This shoe was carefully crafted, piece by piece, to endure professional skateboarding. Its fused-on injected rubber toe cap makes it super hard to wear through, the lightweight and impact-resistant STI Evolution™ Foam midsole doesn't pack out, enhancing the cushioning of the Polyurethane footbed and the non-slip grip outsole's thick tire tread with deep grooves just doesn't wear down. Durable is an understatement. The Marana was born to skate and hold its own.
As the new manufacturer of the Marana outsole, Michelin’s challenge was to extend the longevity of the outsole by using the rubber and tread from a tire. The aim was to increase the durability of the outsole, while still retaining the same basic aesthetics that skaters love in the Marana. The criteria for the new rubber compound had to be lightweight, flexible, grippy and most importantly, more durable than ever. Michelin completely reinvented the Marana outsole. Better than ever, the new rubber is developed from a specialized outdoor tire compound while the tread pattern is
taken from an all-terrain automotive tire.
Etnies was the company that put skate shoes on the market. Created by skateboarders for skateboarder, the company was built from the streets and taken to the next level through pure entrepreneurial drive. Their team roster reads like a whos-who of skateboard legends. With a huge heart for the environment, they set up the "Buy a shoe, plant a tree initiative" in 2011 and have successfully planted over 1 million trees.
