It's wEARTH it - We have collectively decided to create an alternative to Black Friday this year.

It WAS wEARTH IT!

A big THANK YOU from us to you.

We are insanely happy to share this news with you: We are able to donate an incredible €35,000 to Protect Our Winters as part of our "It's wEARTH it" campaign that we ran this year instead of Black Friday. During the period from November 21st to 28th, 3% from all sales in our local shops and online shop of pre-selected brands were donated.

The participating brands were: POW - Protect Our Winters, Patagonia, Burton, Lib Tech, Ortovox, Jones, Nitro, The North Face, Iriedaily, Stance, Mons Royale, Nidecker, Flow Bindings, YES Snowboards, The Bakery, Anerkjendt and Cariuma.

These brands were selected because they strive to be more sustainable and show more responsibility. They e.g. work on their supply chains, use more sustainable and recycled materials, focus on extending the shelf life of their products, take care of effective waste and water management, and advocate for good and fair working conditions in production facilities. In addition, these brands regularly donate to POW or support other sustainable and social projects themselves.

At this point, we would like to say a huge thank you to you. You have made a statement by choosing to buy more sustainable and responsible brands.

We are proud to belong to a community for which responsibility is important. We will continue to strive to expand our sustainable assortment and spotlight the brands that are trying to do things more right. We hope that this way we can continue to inspire you to discover sustainable brands and products, so that together we can work towards greater responsibility for people and nature.

Protect Our Winters

Protect Our Winters (POW) is dedicated to helping the outdoor sports community protect places and lifestyles from climate change. Working with many brands, professional athletes, individuals, resorts, as well as politicians, their goal is to fight for the environment while there is still a chance to change the dire consequences of climate change.

Our Selected Brands

Protect Our Winters (POW) mission is to help the outdoors sports community to protect places and lifestyles from climate change. Working together with many brands, pro athletes, individuals, resorts and passionate enthusiasts their goal is to fight against the climate change while there is still an opportunity to change the horrifying possible outcome of climate change. As official merchandise partner, Blue Tomato warehouses and fulfils all orders for POW merchandise, sending 95 % of the money you spend directly to POW.

Patagonia, we’ve all heard the news by now that Patagonia made “Planet Earth” their sole shareholder and gave three billion dollars to environmental causes. However, Patagonia, as an industry pioneer, always worked dedicated to environmental and ethical activism. Their gear is made from mostly recycled materials and newest technologies such as wetsuits made from Yulex material instead of neoprene.

Burton puts all efforts possible into planet and people friendly materials by aiming to be climate neutral in 2025. This means reducing emissions in line with a science-based target, removing the emissions that we can’t yet eliminate on our own, and advocating for system-level change. Despite the hype for consume, Burton aims to reduce new products and increases product circularity. Their softgoods are backed up by lifetime warranty.

Lib Tech is a community of board sports visionaries and gives everything possible to protect the planet. Every Lib Tech snowboard is built in the world's most sustainable board factory, Mervin Manufacturing. Mervin is a dream factory, making dream boards with innovative materials and processes. LibTech is committed to green manufacturing practices that protect both the people and the planet by ensuring zero hazardous waste throughout the production chain.

Ortovox is all about protecting what we all love. Their program “protACT”s climate through climate neutrality by 2024 with focus on animal welfare, climate protection, social responsibility, environmental protection, supply chain and durability. Already this season (22/23), their entire winter collection will be climate neutral, which is a great effort.

Jones is well known as a leader in sustainability, environmental outreach and backcountry education. They strive to do better and make gear that balances the three founding pillars of their design ethos - performance, sustainability, and innovation – always with the aim to minimize the impact of their gear on the environment. With their social following, they are supporting as many environmental causes as possible.

Nitro has accepted and successfully mastered the challenge to produce 100% climate neutral snowboards. Instead of working against what nature has given us, Nitro since 32 years works with it, for example by using water based inks and solar powered board factories. Additionally, Nitro is partnering with Plant-For-The-Planet to plant over one million trees.

The North Face committed themselves to 100% recycled, responsibly-sourced renewable or regeneratively grown top materials. The company pushed towards exploring without compromises and rethinks packaging, extends the reach by partnering with key suppliers and roots for circularity. Additionally, the company supports many projects which are supporting communities and the planet.

Iriedaily is known for sustainable and ethical streetwear designed in Berlin, Germany. The brand uses sustainable and innovative materials that protect the environment rather than harming it. Additionally, the company holds the highest achieveable status of the FAIR WEAR FOUNDATION since 2018 by constantly ensuring fair conditions for manufacturing workers in Portugal and China .

Stance thrives by celebrating diversity, creativity, personal responsibility and respect towards individuals and the planet. Stance takes initiatives for projects such as “Surfers not street children”, “Trash free trails by Surfer’s Against Sewage” beach clean initiative and many others. Their socks speak for themselves, are made to last and support you in whatever activity you are pursuing.

Mons Royale, known for merino products, commits to the highest standards in every step of the process. Their merino wool is from the world’s leading ethical wool brand, it is spun and manufactured by the environmental leaders in the wool niche and finally, almost exclusively shipped by boat (no air freight!) and packed in sustainable plastic alternatives. Mons Royale sources natural fibres from an ethical supply to produce your gear for every mission.

Nidecker communicates their SAVE program with highest transparency. SAVE stands for Sustainable production, Allocate 1% for the planet, Valuable initiatives and Ethical partners. In 2021 Nidecker created the “Stash the trash” events in which riders, factories, employees, distributors, reps, shops and customers come and collect trash. A fun way to keep our favorite places clean.

Flow Bindings is part of the Nidecker family and lives up to the same values - to look after the people we encounter and the world beneath our feet. Their mantra is to smash the status quo that was put into practice in 1996 in Austria. Flow bindings are high quality and have a full warranty for manufacturer’s defects.

YES Snowboards are built to last and prove this with a lifetime warranty that all of their boards are protected from material or craftsmanship defects. Their boards are designed to have good days on the mountains, which can only be achieved by manufacturing in a more eco-friendly way.

The Bakery was founded in Munich, Germany. Only the best and most sustainable materials from trusted suppliers are used to push the quality and eco-friendliness of their boards and apparel. It is especially important to them to build products with a long lifespan.

Anerkjendt is rooted in the Danish design culture and stands behind the principles of human rights, environmental protection as well as anti-corruption and animal welfare. The brand creates earth friendly items that only use fully traceable and documented fabrics and fibers.

Cariuma delivers stylish sneakers and skateshoes without guilt towards the environment. The brand started a reforestation program in the founder’s origin country Brazil. For each purchased pair of sneakers Cariuma plants two new trees to directly aid in the restoration and preservation of these natural habitats.
