Giacca Ortovox Piz Bianco

With a new lining and Merino wool on the inside, Ortovox once again made their SWISSWOOL® jackets, like the Piz Bianco Jacket, even more comfortable! The jackets are lined with Fair-Trade Swiss virgin wool and have an ideal weight to- insulation ratio (150 g/m²). The warm wool makes them perfect for cold days in the mountains. The nylon outer material is also fully windproof and water resistant. On the inside, 100 % Merino wool inserts in the front and back increase wearing comfort –, particularly on cold days.
For sufficient freedom of movement and the best insulation, the weight-to-insulation ratio in the hood and sleeves is 120g/m². It is precisely these parts of the body where more flexibility is required on strenuous climbs and descents. The homogeneous 150g/m² wool lining will keep you warm. The close-fitting cuffs also help retain warmth inside the jacket. If your fingers still get cold, the two front pockets will quickly bring them back up to temperature. There is space for small items in the inner pocket and breast pocket.
The ergonomic cut, the adjustable hood and the width-adjustable seam (with drawstring) also ensure that the jacket offers an all-around good fit – no matter what the activity. You’ll be optimally equipped on icy summits, cold ski tours or windy descents.
The virgin wool Ortovox use for the loden is produced locally in Switzerland. SWISSWOOL® has set up collection stations specifically for this purpose in many Swiss Alpine valleys, some of which are very remote, guaranteeing a fair price for raw wool. This has led to a revival in sheep farming and wool production, which are often quite unprofitable. After the raw wool has been weighed, it is washed and then processed. Ortovox then provides a unique design and functionality during the manufacture of the end product.

Ortovox came to life with the invention of the first double frequency transceiver to aid in avalanche victim searches. With their passion for keeping skiers and snowboarders safe, Ortovox has grown into one of the biggest producers of avalanche safety gear on the market. In 1995 they added merino underwear to their selection, and we have been hooked ever since!
