Equally at home in the park, pipe, pow or steeps, the Aviator is an elite all-mountain freestyle board built for premier stability in the air and unmatched edge grip. The nimble handling and supersonic acceleration of the Aviator result from the new Spoon 2.0 Nose and Tail plus the Power Camber profile. The Power Camber between the contact points keeps you locked in and railing hard while the Spoon nose and tail eliminate catch and improve turn fluidity. A tip-to-tail carbon fibre layer adds supreme torsional stiffness and delivers a lightning fast response to any rider energy input. The Aviator features an ECO-plastic topsheet made from castor beans for added ECO-performance. New for 2018: a Technora® fibre layer under the topsheet for supreme torsional stiffness and lightning fast response to any rider energy input.
The Aviator provides a Freestyle and All-Mountain riding experience like no other. The twin directional shape, Magne-Traction, and progressive sidecut provide grip and control on any surface, riding switch or regular.
This Directional Twin will provide you with some extra float in the deep fluffy stuff while still providing excellent switch riding capabilities. Due to the setback of the bindings towards the tail, the nose gets a little bit longer, while the shape of nose and tail is still symmetric. In deep snow, the blunted nose makes sure that less snow comes over the sides of your nose, as that would obviously slow you down. This also means you get the benefits of a longer traditional nose, without the extra weight. Take advantage of the Magne-Traction edges to effortlessly link turns that look and feel nice whether they are at high speeds or slow and controlled. The Magne-Traction serrated edges give great edge hold all over the mountain, especially on hard pack and ice. They turn ice into powder. At the far ends of the progressive sidecut, the radius is incrementally increased as the edge reaches the contact point. Gradually increasing the side cut radius towards the contact point delivers smoother turn initiation and exit as the edge tracks in and out of the snow with a less abrupt transition.
The Power Camber is an innovative traditional camber profile tweaked to offer the insane edge response of camber without the usual hang-ups. The camber radius tapers to flat toward the tips and the base is beveled up one degree at the edges from the contact points of the camber to the ends of the board. The base beveling raises the edges where they like to hook, which balances the pop and directional stability of camber with a looser, less-catchy feel.
The new SPOON 3D-base contours were specifically designed to provide next-level glide. The smooth radius of the SPOON nose and tail edges reduce friction at the contact points. With less friction and catch in the tips, you can maintain more speed, flow and float. The moderate Spoon 2.0 3D-base contour features an even balance of 4mm spoon bevel in the nose and 4mm spoon bevel in the tail. The spoon bevel starts at the rocker point.
A medium-stiff flex ensures a precise, responsive and lively feel.
The triple-density full wood New Power Core features hardwood bamboo stringers for added pop and durability plus Paulownia for weight savings. A fibreglass reinforced layer improves pop in nose and tail plus increases the longevity of the flex profile. This lightweight layer helps the board perform the same on day 100 as it did on day one - precise and playful. Multi-layered tri-axis fiberglass meshed with Triax carbon fibre power bands dampen vibrations and keeps the board stable at speed. The sintered 9900 Base is made from Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMW-PE) and Carbon. This ultra-fast base is easy to repair thanks to the UHMW-PE. The ECO-Plastic Topsheet is made from Castor beans. This biomaterial is ultralight, chip/scratch resistant, and water/snow repellent. All Jones boards are made with oversized recycled steel edges for added durability and improved production sustainability. The Rubber edge dampening and ABS Sidewall material is made of 100 % recycled material. Jones boards are ready to shred straight out of the shop and are factory waxed with WEND natural wax as well as factory de-tuned at the tip and tail so you can go right from the shop to the mountain. By flip flopping the base graphic colour, P-Tex waste is drastically reduced by increasing the material yield.
This board is also available in 'Wide' version. These are wider than normal boards and developed especially for snowboarders with large feet (EU size 44+) to avoid too much overhang of the boots. Wider boards also give you better float in powder.
"Snowboarding is not my job, it’s my life". Jones Snowboard founder Jeremy Jones explains so much in so few words. He wanted to create the ultimate snowboarding gear that lived up to even the highest standards, and he has done exactly that. The company prides itself on giving back to the wild places they so dearly cherish through actions such as 1% For the Planet. There is nothing we don't love about Jeremy Jones and his vision.
