Extra-poppy, pow-friendly performance by Burton x Mad Mag
The Burton x Mad Mag Alfred E. Neuman (Deep Thinker) is a directional spin on Danny Davis’ go-to for hot laps in the park, pipe, or mobbing side hits across the mountain. Adding the float and responsiveness of Directional Camber to a unique shape with just a touch of taper ups the all-mountain abilities while keeping the freestyle performance on full blast. 45° Carbon Highlights deliver snappy pop without the stiff side effects.
This board is for all-mountain junkies. If you want a responsive ride with plenty of flexibility for groomers and backcountry, then this board is perfect for you.
A Tapered Directional board is best for all-mountain freeriding. The nose is longer and wider than the tail, giving you plenty of control in any terrain, and the stance is set back to help you float above the pow. Pro-Tip™ is a tapered tip and tail thickness, which reduces swing weight for easier mobility. Long before the hype about waved edges, Burton introduced frostbite edges. They extend slightly beneath your bindings for an extremely good edge-hold on hard-pack. Full of power when you need it and playful when you don't. Frostbite Edges are hungry for hard-pack while remaining smooth, flowing, and forgiving.
The Directional Camber profile has an under-foot camber with a large rocker area in the nose. The enormous float of the rockered nose improves manoeuvrability while the camber underfoot provides edge hold and response.
The Directional Flex features increased pop in the tail and a more resilient nose that allows riders to easily maintain control through all terrains and conditions.
The FSC™ Certified Super Fly II™ 700G Core features stronger and lighter woods targeting specific areas of the core to provide pop, strength, and reduced weight. Additionally, at the Dualzone™ EGD™ design, the wood grain is positioned along the toe and heel edges on two continuous zones, perpendicular to the rest of the wood core, for consistent edge-hold and added strength. Squeezebox is a patent-pending technology which improves pop and performance through the balance of thicker, more powerful core sections with thinner, more flexible sections. Rider energy is transferred outward from beneath the feet, energizing the tip and tail while making the board snappier, more stable, and easier to manipulate. Carbon Highlights optimize each layer of the fibreglass matrix and add a full tip-to-tail carbon layer to reduce weight and fine tune torsional feel to achieve different ride characteristics. A 60° fibre angle creates a highly manoeuvrable and playful feel, while a 45° fibre angle provides a more aggressive ride. The sintered base is an industry standard for quality base materials. The Burton-exclusive Infinite Ride™ technology allows Burton to maximize pop and strength by overbuilding the board, then putting it in a machine that breaks in the board for you. Whether you choose to ride Springloaded, Rocker, or Camber, with Infinite Ride™ your board will maintain its flex, pop, and feel from the first day forward, season after season. This board features Super Sap®, which is a resin formulated with biobased materials that reduce the footprint by 50% over conventional all-petroleum-based epoxies. Stronger, faster, easier, and more adjustable - The Channel™ gives you ultimate control of your stance and your board in a design compatible with all major bindings (not just Burton’s). In fact, Burton trusts it so much that all boards with The Channel are backed by a 3-year warranty.
