This year, Armada has shaken up one of their legendary skis, the JJ and moved it into their award-winning ARV line. The original JJ always had an immensely fun and playful character, so it's now no surprise that it has joined the so-called 'funnest family in skiing'. For the first time in the ski's history, the widest point of the ski has been brought behind the rocker, for more consistent and reliable performance in variable snow conditions. The new 3D base gives the ski further ability to smear and surf in snow without catching. Small changes, but they add up to the most fun iteration of the JJ ever.
This ski is designed for the deepest powder days, but can still ride hardpack, steep terrain and BC kickers.
The ARV JJ 116 features a tapered sidecut which moves the widest point back from the tip and tail. This allows the ski to have a shorter turning radius on hard pack or steep snow but when in deeper snow the full edge is engaged. A twin-tip allows the ski to be skied forwards or backwards in the Pow.
The ski uses Armada’s AR Freestyle Rocker, rockered tip and tails but with positive camber underfoot. This promotes flotation from the tips but still gives remarkable edge grip on hardpack. The tips and tails have Armada's Smear Tech which is a 3D base profile for a surfy no catch feel from the tips.
Tip - 6 Waist - 7 Tail - 6.5 (1 = softest, 10 = stiffest). Soft enough in the tip and tail to butter and jib, stiff enough in the waist for the biggest landings and edge hold.
The ARV JJ has been updated with the pop-lite core for added playfulness and pop, the new AR75 sidewalls increase grip along the length of the skis. The S7 base and 1.7 impact edges are durable and easy maintenance.
