Welcome the de le Rue´s
Yes, you read it correctly. Xavier and Victor de le Rue are the newest additions to our Blue Tomato Snowboard team! Xavier doesn’t have any boundaries when it comes to shredding in the backcountry and Victor, his younger brother, is trying hard to beat his brother and is especially fond of riding the parks.
We are very proud and happy to have them onboard in our Blue Tomato team.
Xavier de le Rue
You cannot think of Snowboarding scene without Xavier de le Rue. If you are talking about Big Mountain Riding, you cannot help mentioning this 34 year old from France. He started with Giant Slalom in 1993, when he was 17 years old. Thanks to Giant Slalom and later thanks to the boardercross, he not only developed a skill for insane speeds, but also discovered how to ride difficult terrains. In boardercross Xavier is still active and has got two gold and a silver medals from world championships hanging in his home in the Pyrenees. Not to forget are his three wins the Freeride World trip between 2008 and 2010.
In recent years, Xavier concentrated mainly on his second biggest passion (just after his daughter): on big mountain riding. And let´s talk about what kind of mountains. Xavier throws himself down slopes that other people wouldn´t even cal slopes, let alone come up with the idea to spot that kind of mountains. Or have you maybe thought as Antarctica as an ideal destination for snowboarding? Xavier feels most comfortable with unusual places, extremely steep slopes and narrow gullies. He of course still retains the respect of the omnipresent danger of avalanches.
He concentrates mostly on his family and finding untracked backcountry trails, but Xavier has also found time to take part into the TimeLine -project (better to check out the full movie "White Noise"!) And for this season, there is another big goal for him: the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi! In other words, there is great stuff surrounding him at the moment, of which he would have never dared to dream as a little kid.
We feel very honoured to welcome him to our team and we are sure that he will be doing awesome projects and unheard trips in the future that we are more than happy to follow.
Victor de le Rue
Too bad if you haven´t heard of Victor de le Rue before. You have unfortunately missed something. The youngster of the de le Rue –Family doesn´t have any good reason to be shadowed by his older brother. Just recently he was chosen as the “French Rider of the Year 2013”, although his dream job in the past was to own a grocery store, not to be a snowboarder. His vision as a kid was that “people always need to eat something”, so owning a grocery store wouldn´t be that exciting, hence a secure way to go.
Although his childhood’s dream never saw the daylight, are we and the snowboard community of course more than happy to see him snowboarding than working in a supermarket.
However his begin as snowboarder wasn´t that smooth as you could expect. When he was younger, he wanted to have a monoski for Christmas, since he didn´t actually know what his sibling were riding on the slopes. Although, he is still pretty young, he has already won many contests and starred shredding movies. He has featured in “Dopamine”, produced by Absinthe Films and in TimeLine Film´s second edit; “White Noise”, where you spot his brother as well.
