The North Face was founded in 1966 by Douglas Tompkins in San Franciso, California. Initially, it was a specialized store for mountaineering equipment, called “North Beach”. In 1986, the shop moved into a different part of San Francisco. From then on, Tompkins began to work on the production of their home brand The North Face. In that same year, he sold the company again, but their name and their work haven’t changed.
