The sneaker is not only a cool street fashion shoe, it's also a nice skateshoe. So the Chukka Low is an all-round talent! The Vans SKATE combination of molded polyurethane footbeds with ImpactSorb® gel heel pads provides superior cushioning on the board, and won’t pack out during high impacts. Vans' proprietary polyurethane-based Ultracush HD footbed keeps the foot close to the board yet won’t pack out over time, providing the highest level of impact cushioning.
Back in ’66, Paul van Doren made the first soles of his new shoes twice as thick so they would wear longer and, unlike other shoe manufacturers, he used pure crepe rubber with no filler. That decision ended up shaping the company when the world’s first skateboarders discovered how Vans’ now-famous original waffle outsole gum rubber compound let them feel their boards while keeping them firmly connected to them.
